Commissioner Walton served the Department from 1986 until he was replaced by Kerry L. Sleeper in 2003. In January, 2008, Commissioner Sleeper was replaced by Thomas R. Tremblay. Commissioner Tremblay served three years, until the appointment of Keith Flynn in 2011.
The past fifty years have required members of the Department to change. Each change presented new obstacles to overcome. One constant has been the pride and dedication to duty exhibited by members of the Department. Regardless of the position held, uniformed Trooper, communications technician, Emergency Management trainer or planner, laboratory technician, dispatcher, accountant or secretary, the people of the Department of Public Safety have served and will continue to serve the citizens of the state in a competent, professional manner.
