Commissioner Alexander
E.A. Alexander became the third Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety in 1965 with the rank of Colonel. Colonel Alexander was (at the time) the only appointed Commissioner who had been a Trooper promoted to Commissioner, having begun his career with the Motor Vehicle Highway Patrol in 1929.Commissioner Alexander served as the head of the Department of Public Safety from 1965 until 1970.
